What is Green Theatre?

Green Theatre was set up to create an inclusive performing arts environment for students from both our mainstream and special needs departments. Our initial aim was to provide a venue in which students with special educational needs could be integrated with their peers in the main school. Senior students of the Green Unit created and performed a piece of mime about the issues of bullying. They invited the lower senior school students who watched to join them in an after-school club. Two weeks later 36 students were working together, enjoying drama and theatre workshops. Green Theatre has significantly increased in popularity amongst the students. Membership has now doubled to over 60 students!

What do we do?

Every Thursday after school, the students filter into the Drama Studio. We work on development skills in theatre and group participation by encouraging students to work together and involving them in the creation and rehearsal process of upcoming projects.

The Infant Green Theatre will perform the Wizard of Oz on the 15th April 2010 and the Senior Green Theatre will perform Prince Cinders on the 27th April.

Our Past Performances include The Lord of the Rings – Musical (2009) and The Lion King 2008.
