TOP STORIES AND INFORMATION
The Letter-Join website is a great online tool to help your child develop handwriting and phonics skills. It is mainly used from Year 1 age onwards, however, when you log in, you can click on the tabs on the left hand side to have a look at what’s on offer. There are some great activities that you can use both on your desktop computer and on an i-pad.
Instructions on how to log in using a desk-top or i-Pad:
Safeguarding & Internet Safety Parents’ Meeting
There will be a meeting for parents of students from KG up to Year 4 in the Main School Hall on Tuesday 8th October at 5:30pm. You will be given tips and advice on the dangers of the internet and how to keep your child safe. It would be great to see as many of you there as possible.
Children entering the School
Thank you for your support in this. Most children, from KG up to Year 2 are entering the school gate alone now. It really helps to develop your child’s independence and self-confidence. If you need to speak to your child’s teacher you can make an appointment or speak to them at the end of the day.
Mufti Day – Explanation
Mufti Day is a day where the children pay a ‘fine’ to be allowed to wear their own clothes. It actually comes from an old army tradition where soldiers were allowed to wear civilian clothes for a day. The students from the whole school participate in these days to help raise money for charity. The charity we are raising funds for is the Kuwait Red Crescent Society. Thank you all very much for supporting this great cause.
Word of the term: RESPECT
We are continuing to learn about the word ‘RESPECT’ this term. Children will be encouraged to show respect for one another, respect for all adults, respect for the environment and respect for those who are different from themselves. It would be a great help if you could discuss this with your child at home.
Swimming for Infant Classes
The swimming pool is still being refurbished, so unfortunately there will be no swimming lessons until further notice. Classes will continue to receive an extra PE lesson during their usual swimming time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Reception Trips to Scientific Center
Next week and the following week, Reception classes will be visiting The Discovery Place at The Scientific Center to support and enhance what they have been learning about in class.
Red Balloon Books will be holding a Book Fair in school, during the week beginning Sunday 20th October.
Parents’ Day will be on Wednesday 23rd October. No students will attend school on this day.

Photos on Flickr
Please enjoy looking at the photographs of your children! If you can’t see too many pictures of your son or daughter, please don’t worry. Every week there will be more for you to look at.
A wonderful message about teachers from one of our students…
