GU Head Teacher’s Welcome

Head Teacher

“Inspire, Challenge, Encourage.”

Welcome to the Green Unit, one of the four departments of Kuwait English School. It is my privilege, as the Head Teacher of our fabulous, caring community, whose history stretches back to its establishment in 1991, when Kuwait was liberated from the Iraqi occupation, to introduce you to all that GU provides.

We are a truly unique learning environment. If you decide to choose the Green Unit for your son or daughter, you will be choosing a creative, friendly and happy school. Our aim is to meet the individual educational needs of every child and encourage, motivate and inspire young learners to be their best selves. Our students spend their time in a safe environment, one that puts community first. It is equally important to ensure that all our students enjoy learning, and we believe that achieving academic success is only possible if students are happy and confident.

At the Green Unit, all students have access to an outstanding range of extra-curricular clubs including art, robotics, science & environment, drama, choir, ASDAN, tennis, table tennis and other activities.

Further, social events, concerts, outings, local and residential trips help to develop independence and life skills. The annual Sports Day, KALD Talent Show, Art Exhibition, Environment Fashion Show, and Quran Competitions all enhance our links with the local community and its heritage. A Green Unit education lays the foundations for our students to become Global citizens that are resilient, independent and responsible not only for themselves but also for the world around them. We want them to always do their best, discover the things they love and are good at, respect each other and never give up when facing new challenges.

We are currently experiencing the COVID 19 pandemic, and the lives of many people are affected by this new invisible challenge. KES GU now offers online learning that will equip students with tools matching new expectations in a changed world.

We have seen tremendous progress over the past few months, with all our students now confident in how to use Google Classroom, how to work independently and to complete digital assignments. Our students have impressed us with their thirst for learning, their positive attitude and perseverance.

We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you, parents, to ensure our students can meet their highest potential. We recognise that in order to be academically successful, students need support at home and school. Working together will make a great difference in your child’s development.

Finally, the Green Unit staff and I feel privileged to be a part of your sons/daughters life. We thank you for your trust and look forward to working with you.

“Excellence in education is when we do everything that we can to make sure they become everything that they can.” ~ Carol Ann Tomlinson
