The first ever VEX Robotics team of Kuwait was founded by the Green Unit of Kuwait English School. The team competed as the ROBOKES.
VEX Robotics Competitions are prestigious events held in more than 45 countries with the participation of 8500 teams. VEX Robotics Competitions have officially broken the record and registered in the Guinness World Record book for the world’s Largest robotics competition. The VEX IQ Challenge, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, provides elementary and middle school students with exciting, open-ended robotics and research project challenges that enhance their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills through hands-on, student-centred learning.
The participants were from the GU Robotics club and included: Cameron Maclachlan, Julian Smuts, Khalifah Al Shareedah, Mohammad AlAskar, Osamah AlKazemi and Saeed Al Barqawi. The ROBOKES brought home the Judges Award from the İstanbul VEX Robotics Competition which was held on the 10th May.
The Judges Award is presented to a team that deserves special recognition. Judges consider a number of possible criteria for this award, such as team display of special attributes, exemplary effort, perseverance, team accomplishments or endeavours throughout the events that may not fit under existing awards but are nonetheless deserving special recognition.
The judges expressed that the members of the ROBOKES team showed exceptional team spirit throughout their interactions, not only within their own team but with other teams during the event. They displayed resilience and the ability to problem solve and adjust their Robot as needed to increase their scores.
This award is a great motivator for the students to continue with Robotics and improve their skills.
