Admissions

Apply to KES

Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child to Kuwait English School.  With more than 40 nationalities among our admission, we are ready to welcome and support new students into our school life.

Applications for places are taken from January for the following September. Kuwait English School is very popular, it is recommended and important for families applying to KES to complete the online application as soon as possible.  The mainstream school does not provide the support necessary for students with specific learning difficulties. These are catered for in the Green Unit. Students are therefore tested before they enter the school.

We know there are many educational resources available in Kuwait, but we feel confident that you will find KES…An education for life!

We recommend you to provide your child with the best!

New Registration and Assessments

Step 1:

Newcomer parents are requested kindly to apply the school registration form online, which can be found on the school website.

Step 2:

When submitting your child’s application online, the school will contact you with further instructions should your application be successful and set an interview assessment date for your child.  The entrance test is used to assess whether a student is suitable to enter the school.

Should your application be successful, the following documents will be required to complete the registration procedure to be provided by the parents:

  • Photocopy of child’s birth certificate
  • Photocopy of child’s passport
  • Photocopy of child’s Civil ID
  • Photocopy of father’s passport
  • Photocopy of father’s Civil ID
  • Kuwaiti – Photocopy of Nationality Certificate
  • Photocopy of the last academic report
  • Transfer certificate and clearance from the previous school
  • Entrance test fees are non-refundable

The assessment consists of a test where the student’s concentration, academic level, thought process and communication skills are assessed. A copy of the student’s previous school report is requested and discussed with the parents, if applicable. Appropriate questions are asked to the parents. Any serious discipline concerns are grounds for non-acceptance.

It is the Head Teacher’s decision as to whether the student is accepted or not. No students will be allowed admission unless they pass the entry requirements.

Step 3:

If a student has passed the assessment test an acceptance letter is written. The acceptance letter, along with other paperwork (which mentioned above) are taken to the school Accounts Department where a non-refundable deposit is paid to complete the registration. It is not possible to register a student without all of the necessary paperwork. This must be brought into school at the time of the interview.

Step 4:

Students are then placed into the correct class and year group. There is an age guideline for each year. Occasionally a student may be admitted into a year group below their chronological age if it is felt their maturity or level of English requires it.

Re-registration

Mid of Term 2, parents of current students at KES usually receive reminders of the deadline for re-registration which routinely takes place the first week of April.

In case a parent fails to re-register their current student before the deadline, KES cannot secure a place. We recommend parents to re-register their current student as soon as possible to avoid losing their seat.
