The Early Years provides a unique learning environment for the youngest children at Kuwait English School and houses KG and Reception children. There are nine Kindergarten classes and eight Reception classes. Please visit our premises to experience the happy and purposeful learning environment we have created.
The Early Years is located about 100 metres from the main school building and contains a recently renovated, self sufficient centre in which children can learn and play. We strive to provide an environment that achieves our vision of inspiring, challenging and encouraging every child in all aspects of learning.
The Early Years is well resourced, and the school’s drive towards the 21st century and technology means that all the classrooms are equipped with Smart TVs. There is also a music room, sports area and two playgrounds.
Children need to learn many skills for everyday life, and we provide a broad curriculum that follows the Early Years Foundation Stage of the English National Curriculum to provide children with the important foundation that they need. Children are assessed according to the Early Learning Goals at the end of Reception.
The classes are of mixed ability, and as the fluency of students in the English language varies considerably, specialist teachers are available to support teachers in assessing and monitoring the children. The Learning Support Department also provides opportunities to gifted and talented students.
At the Early Years, we believe that working with parents is central to a child’s development; we work hard to establish open communication and form partnerships with parents that will last throughout the child’s time at Kuwait English School.
We encourage you to also read our newsletters to get an idea of the number of exciting weekly activities that take place with the youngest of our children.
We are lucky to have a dedicated team of teachers and assistants who genuinely care. Children are central to the learning process, and we have high expectations of them both academically and socially. We are always looking at ways of improving the learning experience, whether through the implementation of innovative teaching methods or the enhancement of our resources.
