The Infant Department consists of Key Stage 1 which caters for Years 1 and 2. Our aim is to provide an environment within which our students can grow in confidence as they progress from their early school years to the challenges of Key Stage 2.
The classes are of mixed ability and as the fluency of students in the English Language varies considerably, specialist teachers of EFL and Learning Support assist the class teachers in the support, assessment and monitoring of the children. The Learning Support Department also provides opportunities to extend Gifted and Talented students.
The Infant Department is situated in the main building of Kuwait English School. The classrooms are situated in a self contained area. There are 14 classes in Key Stage 1 with their own playground, support rooms and music room. The Department is well resourced with Smart TV’s and computer tablets. Teaching assistants support the class teachers.
In the Infant Department we believe that working with parents is central to children’s development; we work hard to establish open communication and form partnerships with parents that will last throughout your child’s time at Kuwait English School.
We encourage you to also read our newsletters to get an idea of the number of exciting weekly activities that take place with the youngest of our children. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
We are lucky to have a dedicated team of teachers and assistants who genuinely care about the children and their development. We ensure the children are central to the learning process and we have high expectations of them both academically and socially. In order to do this, we are always looking at ways of improving the learning experience for the children, whether through the implementation of innovative teaching methods or the enhancement of our resources.
