Kuwait English School participates in the 1st Arabian Mathematics Olympiad

Abdul Rahman Altatan, a year 11 student from Kuwait English School, was one of only three students nationally to represent the Kuwait team at the 1st Arabian Mathematics Olympiad in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, between 25-29 November 2018.
The Olympiad offers an appropriate environment for enhancing scientific competition among Arab students in various fields (Algebra, number theory, engineering…) so that they can embrace excellence at all levels – national, regional and international.
In order to gain a place in the contest, Abdul Rahman passed through six rounds of intense competition in Kuwait earlier this year, thus earning him the accolade of a place in the Kuwait team.
Thirteen Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Oman and Morocco took part; and, although the Kuwait team did not come away with medals on this occasion, Abdul Rahman told KES that his interest in the Mathematics discipline has grown even more since his competition attendance.
The Chairman, Mr Mohammed Jassim Al Saddah, Vice Chairman Madam Naela Al Saddah, Financial Manager Madam Rula Al Saddah, School Director, Mrs Rhoda Elizabeth Muhmood, General Manager, Mr Muhmood Muhmood, Senior High School Principal, Mrs Janet Carew and the Mathematics Department  would like to congratulate Abdul Rahman on his fantastic achievement and wish him good luck in his future endeavours.
